A Delegation of scientists led by Professor Donald Johanson arrived at Samara

Samara University and Afar Region Culture and Tourism office warmly welcomed a delegation of scientists, led by renowned American paleoanthropologist who discovered Lucy, Professor Donald C. Johanson,at Samara.
Yohannes Haile-Selassie,an Ethiopian paleoanthropologist and author of pre-Homosapiens hominids,Professor of Natural History and the Environment and Director of the Institute of Human Origins at Arizona State University is one of the delegates.
The scientists are from Arizona State University and are here to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of Lucy, the fossil of a female hominin australopithecine.
The discovery of Lucy took place in the Afar region of Hadar, Ethiopia in 1974.
The delegates will be staying in Hadar for three days and will have a visit to Samara University on their return.
