About the Department

Samara University started its work in 2000 E.C with faculty of education (natural science and Social Science), business and economics and agriculture. At the present the faculty of education (natural science is promoted to college of natural and computational science and one of those departments under the college is chemistry department.

Chemistry department is carrying out its activities by Preparing knowledgeable, skilled, and attitudinally mature graduate chemists; promote and enhance research focusing on knowledge and technology transfer; design and provide community and consultancy services consistent with the country’s priority needs in general and in the region in particular. Initially the department was offering an undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Education degree (teaching) in Chemistry. The Department has revised its curriculum as of 2009 and has been offering an undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Science (non-teaching) in chemistry. The revision aimed at inculcating the changes and improvements that are happening in the discipline.  In doing so, an attempt was made to include recent developments.

The department of  chemistry is dedicated to produce knowledgeable, skilled, morally matured and internationally competent chemistry graduates who contribute to the national development and solve societal problems through training, research and community engagement.

To see rational, productive and motivated chemistry graduates who explore and create knowledge to contribute to the national development and become globally competent by 2030.

Department Facilities

The Department of chemistry offers courses in comfortable classrooms that it shares with other departments of the College of natural and computational sciences. Furthermore, the Department has a separate laboratory for practical courses undertaking.

The Department Head is selected from among the teaching staff of the department on the basis of merit and interest as soon as the college announces the vacancy for the post. The term of office of the Department Head is two years. Currently, Mr. Adem Ebrahim is serving as Head of the Department.
