Internationalization and Strategic Partnerships Directorate

Since its inception in 2007, Samara University has been engaged in internationalization and partnership efforts aimed at fostering collaboration and relationships with global partners. Situated in the pastoral expanse of Northeastern Ethiopia, the university primarily aims to pioneer pastoral and agro-pastoral community development in East Africa. Samara University is poised to make a lasting impact on regional development and global challenges by increasing its global reach and engagement. For that purpose, the University established the Office of Internationalization and Strategic Partnerships Directorate in March 2024; the initiative that aligns with Ethiopia’s vision for higher education institutions to increase their global presence and impact.

The Office of Internationalization and Strategic Partnerships Directorate at Samara University plays a pivotal role in advancing the institution’s mission to become a leading center of excellence in East African pastoral and agro-pastoral studies. The Directorate’s mandate includes facilitating the University’s global reach and visibility, as well as fostering international partnerships and collaborations in research, teaching, and service delivery. The Directorate aims to support the University’s vision of contributing to global knowledge advancement, sustainable development, and community empowerment through proactive international engagement.
